The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL) is committed to ensuring a positive football experience for its players, parents and coaches by providing new leaguewide benefits and innovations from USA Football.
USA Football is the sport’s national governing body in the United States and is the official youth development partner of the Bears and the NFL.
The Chicagoland Youth Football League, the largest youth football organization in the Chicagoland area, is comprised of more than 10,000 players and 2,500 coaches. Each TCYFL coach has access to USA Football’s digital coaching education curriculum and teaching resources.
TCYFL coaches will have the opportunity to complete USA Football’s Level 1 coaching course, the sport’s first and only course to earn accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE).
TCYFL coaches can prepare to lead their teams this season by completing the 15-chapter USA Football course on usafootball.com, encompassing how to best teach football fundamentals in addition to communicating with players and player health and safety, including concussion education and management. USA Football course material covering concussions was created in partnership and approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and medical experts. USA Football’s Coaching Certification Course meets both the coaching and concussion awareness requirements laid out by TCYFL.
Coaches who become USA Football members receive USA Football development resources, including access to an online film room to help teach football fundamentals, a computer-animated library of football drills organized by position to prepare players for their next practice, a practice planner to efficiently structure their practice sessions and more.
“I’ve been a huge proponent of USA Football from Day 1,” TCYFL president GEOFF MEYER said. “This is going to be a huge step in the partnership between USA Football and TCYFL.”
“The Chicagoland Youth Football League is committed to setting the highest standards of coaching excellence for its players and families,” said USA Football Executive Director SCOTT HALLENBECK. “Under Geoff’s leadership, the TCYFL will employ the best teaching resources in the sport to ensure great football experiences with an emphasis on smart play and player safety.” USA Football members – youth football players, coaches, commissioners and game officials – reside in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
