TCYFL Coaching Staff requirements1) Coach Certification:
USA Football Heads Up Certification is mandatory for TCYFL; coaches are required to have active certification from USA Football. PCA certification is required for all 2013 coaches that did not coach in TCYFL in 2012.
2) Advanced Concussion Training:
USA Football certification includes concussion training and meets the 2013 requirement of TCYFL. Advanced Concussion Training is required for all coaches.
3) Coaches Gathering:
Required for all head coaches. Meeting information will be distributed separately. All certification processes of head coaches are to be completed prior to the Coaches Gathering.

TCYFL Advanced Concussion TrainingOur TCYFL website now has our video flash player ready with the Advanced Concussion Training video.
You can access it by going to our website at tcyfl.net and clicking on the Advanced Concussion Training Login icon to the right.
You will then enter your first and last name, email address, Member Community and level coaching at this year. You will then be registered and sent an email with your password. The video player will save your spot from where you last stopped watching and will allow you to rewind at anytime, just not fast forward. When finished viewing you will be Thanked and Congratulated on your completion of the video and will be noted in the admistration side as completed for your League Rep to follow.
In 2012 it is Mandatory that each and every coach take a Concussion Training Course.

Sports Medicine Services – Athletic Training Game Coverage
During your child’s games you will have an Accelerated Certified Athletic Trainer on your sidelines. If any child complains of an injury please refer them to the athletic trainer for proper evaluation. Do not take any complaint lightly! The athletic trainer will determine if the athlete can safely return to play.
If an athlete receives an acute injury on the field, the athletic trainer will promptly care for the athlete. Do not attempt to move or assess the injury, please take all direction from the athletic trainer and remember the player’s safety is the first priority. After the initial assessment the athletic trainer will determine if the athlete can safely return to play.
Sports Medicine Services – Sports Medicine Hotline
If you feel that a child has suffered and injury and it needs further evaluation, you can call the Accelerated sports medicine hotline, 312-523-4064. This hotline is available 24 hours a day. The athletic trainer will give prompt advice on how to handle the injury. If the player needs to see a doctor, we can facilitate that and provide an appointment within 24-48 hours. If it’s an emergency, call 911.
Sports Medicine Services – Free Injury Screen
If you feel that a child has suffered an injury, Accelerated offers free injury screens. You can acquire a free injury screen by calling the sports medicine hotline 312-523-4064, calling 877-97-REHAB or by speaking with an Accelerated staff member who will be present at most games and practices. The screen includes:
- Free physical assessment by a licensed Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer
- Complete explanation of findings
- Instructions for exercises and self-care activities
- Recommended treatment options and course of care
- Injury prevention consultation
- Physician referral and physician scheduling assistance, if needed
