PRESS RELEASE:

The Chicagoland Youth Football League Kicks Off Its 2007 Season

August 22, 2007

The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL), one of the largest independent youth tackle football leagues in the United States, will kick off its 2007 season on Saturday August 25. Formerly known as the Tri-County Youth Football Association, the TCYFL has attracted participants from well beyond its former boundaries.

The League now includes twenty Member Communities based throughout Chicagoland and southeastern Wisconsin. In 2007, the TCYFL will welcome Bartlett, Buffalo Grove, Prairie Ridge, Prospect Heights, Richmond and Western Kenosha County Youth Football to the existing League roster of Antioch, Barrington, Cary, Crystal Lake, Grayslake, Huntley, Lake in the Hills/Algonquin, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Oak Park, Plainfield, Tri Cities (St. Charles/Geneva/Batavia), Warren and Wauconda.

The TCYFL features 280 travel teams playing at five different age/weight levels and in three different divisions designed to provide a competitive football playing experience in an environment conducive to equitable player participation. The TCYFL Member Communities serve well over 10,000 Chicagoland boys and girls up to age fourteen on League and in-house tackle teams, local flag football teams, and on cheerleading, dance, pom and spirit squads. Visit http://www.tcyfl.net for details.

According to TCYFL President Geoff Meyer, the League maintains a strong focus on practicing good health, citizenship, character and sportsmanship. Meyer added, “first and foremost, the TCYFL promotes players’ welfare and wellbeing. The key to our growth has been attracting Member Communities who share our vision of creating a positive football playing experience. While our programs and League are not designed specifically as “feeder” programs for local high school football teams, we are proud that the high school teams in our TCYFL Member Communities have historically fared very well in IHSA 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A post season play. We look forward to 2007 and know that it will be our best season ever.”
